21 days of prayer & fasting – week 3

Here are the notes I take from the week’s quick 10 minute messages we hear every morning (Monday – Friday).

{scripture is from The NIV Bible unless otherwise noted}

MONDAY || 1.23.17 - John Larson

There is no situation or season that is too big or hard for God. He will go with me wherever I go.

Joshua 1:9 ~ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Matthew 28:20 ~ and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.””

The theme throughout the Bible is – God is with us.

Jesus will never leave us, but he does ask us to be strong and courageous.

What would my prayers look like if Jesus was standing right in front of me, face to face?

How you can be strong and courageous during prayer:

  1. Don’t be afraid. Trade your fear for strength.
  2. Answer every discouragement with the Word of God (because it is full of encouragement)

TUESDAY || 1.24.17- Michael Hodges

Exodus 3:7-10 ~ The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.””

God is no oblivious. He is moved by prayer requests.

We are God’s rescue plan for the world.

Ask God what his vision for our life in 2017 is.

God doesn’t just send us, he goes with us.

WEDNESDAY || 1.25.17 - Allen Pardon

Prayer keeps us in the perfect place to be in harmony with God.

Matthew 9:27-30 ~ He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

It’s not about being inactive, it’s about being in the right kind of movement.

If you take time and remember where you came from and where God showed up in your life, it can change the way you pray.

Mark 4:39 ~ “He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.”

Instead of being anxious – rest, trust that Gods god you.

Mark 4:40-41 ~ He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!””

THURSDAY || 1.26.17 - Kyle Cantrell

Proverbs 28:1 ~ Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power
    and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
    for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, Lord, is the kingdom;
    you are exalted as head over all.
12 Wealth and honor come from you;
    you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
    to exalt and give strength to all.”

When you pray that verse (or the Bible in general) word for word, it can revolutionize you prayers.

When you don’t know what to say / pray, say the word of God.

When we pray scripture::

  1. You pray with an elevated authority. 1 Timothy 3:16-17 ~ “Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great:

    He appeared in the flesh,
        was vindicated by the Spirit,
    was seen by angels,
        was preached among the nations,
    was believed on in the world,
        was taken up in glory.”

    2. We have an elevated faith. Sometimes, we quote the lies of the enemy but not the word of God…

  2. When we pray scripture, we have an elevated power over the enemy.

FRIDAY || 1.27.17 - Caleb Chambers

Acts 12:1-7 ~ It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread. After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover. So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.”

Make a commitment to pray earnestly every day.
