This past weekend, Aaron prompted me to pick up my camera and just shoot. Practice. Get better. Grow.
So, Sunday evening, I grabbed my water bottle and my Canon Rebel T6i (my favorite camera that I own) and took a walk.
We live on a bit of property, so as I set off on my little adventure, I wasn’t alone. I had multiple animals who wanted to join me, including Katara.
Naturally, I saw this as a perfect opportunity to get some candid photographs (since you cannot pose an animal. Unless they’re crazy behaved – which mine are not).
Can I just say I love this image of my kitty!? I had no idea until I got the picture on my computer that her tongue was sticking out a little. I think it’s perfect! 🙂
I have a bad habit of not using my nice camera or editing personal photos. With a baby on the way, this is something I’ve decided to change. So not only did I take photos with my DSLR, but I also edited them! *gasp* it’s a miracle! 😛
I decided this was a perfect opportunity to try something with PhotoShop that I typically wouldn’t do. Usually, I want as much light as I can in my images. But, I’ve decided to try something different and make my images look a little darker. Not that airy-light that so many photographers do.
I wasn’t out for very long, but I loved it! This summer I’m really going to try to pick up my camera and take a picture (with me DSLR – not my Iphone 😉 ) everyday. Not only will it expand my knowledge and make me a better photographer & editor, but it will always be a great way to capture this summer + beyond. And who knows, I might end up sharing the images on my blog 😉 We’ll see.
