Every time Church of the Highlands does their 21 Days of Prayer, I fall in love with the church all over again. It’s such a great time to refocus & reconnect with our Father.
I wanted to type up a quick post of the notes I took from this week’s quick 10 minute messages we’ve had every morning this week (Monday – Friday).
{scripture is from The Message Bible unless otherwise noted}

MONDAY - 1.4.16
Luke 18:35-43 ~ “He came to the outskirts of Jericho. A blind man was sitting beside the road asking for handouts. When he heard the rustle of the crowd, he asked what was going on. They told him, “Jesus the Nazarene is going by.” He yelled, “Jesus! Son of David! Mercy, have mercy on me!” Those ahead of Jesus told the man to shut up, but he only yelled all the louder, “Son of David! Mercy, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and ordered him to be brought over. When he had come near, Jesus asked, “What do you want from me?” He said, “Master, I want to see again.” Jesus said, “Go ahead—see again! Your faith has saved and healed you!” The healing was instant: He looked up, seeing—and then followed Jesus, glorifying God. Everyone in the street joined in, shouting praise to God.”
How do I pray to get Jesus’ attention?
- Be passionate! Go in with EVERYTHING! Seek Him with ALL my heart!
- Be persistent.
- Be precise! Pray for people (& use their name). Pray for specific things.
TUESDAY - 1.5.16
Mark 9:21-24 ~ “He asked the boy’s father, “How long has this been going on?” “Ever since he was a little boy. Many times it pitches him into fire or the river to do away with him. If you can do anything, do it. Have a heart and help us!” Jesus said, “If? There are no ‘ifs’ among believers. Anything can happen.” No sooner were the words out of his mouth than the father cried, “Then I believe. Help me with my doubts!””
- I need to ask God to grow my faith!
- Trust in God completely. Look to Him for strength, courage, perseverance, wisdom, etc.
- Aim to be simple – childlike faith.
WEDNESDAY - 1.6.16
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 ~ “You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally. I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.”
I am my own worst enemy.
Three things I can pray based off this scripture:
- Pray to win / finish the race
- Pray with purpose
- Pray for discipline
Stay as strong as I did at the beginning, because the reward at the end is worth it!
THURSDAY - 1.7.16
Jeremiah 29: 23-24 (NIV) ~ “For they have done outrageous things in Israel; they have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and in my name they have uttered lies—which I did not authorize. I know it and am a witness to it,” declares the Lord.”
Pray – because God listens
Trust – because God is in heaven & has a plan for me
Live – because the world is watching
FRIDAY - 1.8.16
Daniel 9:3-4 ~ “So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed: “Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments,”
When God needs something changed in the world, he uses people.
The enemy tried to intimidate me. I need to declare, “I will not be intimidated by you, Satan!”
The Lord is moving in my situation, but he is also changing me. And sometimes, changing me is the hardest part & takes the longest amount of time.
God WILL respond to my prayers!
