Aaron and I love investing in our marriage, and our church’s marriage conference is a great opportunity for us to learn together.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Always” from 1 Corinthians 13:7, “It [love] always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
I hurried home from work to greet our babysitter and give her a quick overview of the house and schedule. I wrote her a letter with these details as well for reference, which she appreciated.
Shortly after, Aaron and I were out the door. Dr. Les and Leslie Parrott were the guest speakers at the conference and the evening session was on the topic of conflict and why it starts.
As is tradition, the session was followed by a date night – complete with food, desserts, a family feud game show and a fire pit with s’mores.
Aaron and I hung out with some friends (old and new) before calling it a night and heading home.
We were early to rise the next morning but we got to enjoy breakfast with the girls and our sitter before leaving for the day. In the morning session, we concluded the topic of conflict and then headed over towards intimacy and how laughing together is the best way to grow closer together.
We took a break for lunch before ending the conference with healthy communication and added a couple more tools to our belt.
Overall, we had a wonderful time and are so thankful for the time and material that was invested in our relationship. We believe many marriages were forever changed by this weekend and we are thankful to have been able to grow in some areas ourselves.
