When it comes to packing a hospital bag, I believe there are two extremes; not knowing what to pack and over-packing. But after packing for two previous deliveries and staying in a hospital, I’d like to think I know what is actually necessary and what isn’t.
So from first time mamas to veteran mamas, here is an easy list of what I believe to be the most essential things.
For Mom:
- Toiletries
- 2 shirts
- 1 shorts
- 1 sweats
- 1 hoodie
- 3 pairs of socks
- 1 cute robe
- Slippers
- Nipple Cream
- 3 nursing bras
- Depends
For Baby:
The hospital provides a lot of what you need for baby, including diapers and wipes. But here are some things I like to bring from home.
- Bobby Pillow
- Nursing Cover
- Burp Clothes
- Clothes – 3 size newborn + 3 size 0-3 months
- 2 beanies
- 2 headbands
- 2 pairs of socks
For Dad:
My husband is a pretty minimal guy, so I really didn’t pack much for him. Enough clothes for two days and toiletries.
- Toiletries
- 2 shirts
- 2 shorts
- 1 hoodie
- 2 hats
- 2 pairs of socks
- 2 pairs of underwear
- 1 pair of sandals
Misc.:
This is the stuff that will likely get thrown into a bag right before you leave for the hospital (if you even want it).
- Snacks
- Own Pillows
- Chargers for all electronics
- iPad
- Book
- DSLR Camera + Charger
- Polaroid Camera
