spencer – 3 months old

We’re three months old and all I can think is “he seems so much bigger than the girls were at this age” haha

Likes:

  • snuggling
  • eating
  • smiling
  • talking
  • his play-mat
  • facing outward
  • starring at ceiling fans
  • being held my mama
  • getting a fresh diaper
  • his bedtime swaddle wrap
  • being worn in a carrier

Dislikes:

  • not being tended to immediately
  • being touched by his sisters while he’s eating
  • having a dirty diaper

Food:

Spencer is a true Shaver – he loves food! We’ve got a pretty consistent schedule that’s mainly meals but I’m living that on-demand life. He likes to eat every 2-3 hours.

Sleep:

Sleep is too irregular for me to say much, but he usually either has one meal around 4am or two snacks just after midnight and another around 5am.

We usually start bedtime around 7/8pm (which works because that’s when the girls go down) with a feeding and wrapping him in his swaddle. I’ll rock him to sleep and when I’m done with my Spencer-snuggles, I’ll lay him in his Moses basket that is across our room.

Life:

I unpacked our playmat for him and he loves it! he’ll lay there for a long time just kicking and talking while moving his arms up and down. His big sisters love to lay, sit and pretend with him. Usually the playmat is a boat or a tent.

This kid. I don’t know if it’s because he’s my first boy or he’s currently the baby, but he has my heart something fierce.

He’s been chatty lately and I am here for it! He’s so happy and loves to smile while he talks. His favorite places to chit-chat are the changing pad and in mommy’s arms after a meal.

he loves to be worn, which works great for me. he prefers to be held close anyway so wearing him frees me up more.

For the most part, he enjoys baths but every now and then he’s not fan.

Lately, he’s been enjoying his sisters more (as long as they don’t mess with him while he’s eating). He likes being held by them and they all love holding him. Each for different lengths of time (Emmaline will hold him the longest), but still precious.

Me:

The first couple months I really struggled with post-partum blues. I am so thankful to now be saying I believe I’m above water (or at least not drowning like I felt). There are still hard, overwhelming, anxiety filled moments, but I can tell I don’t feel the consistency of PPblues like before.

I’ve gotten a good rhythm with him and even though he definitely suffers from some “4th kid problems,” he is so babied and I’m not even mad about it. He’s my little sidekick.
