you guys…
the shaver crew is adopting!
Since high school, I’ve had a heart for adoption. I just always saw it as a part of my story. When Aaron & I were dating, we agreed adoption was something we were open to. As we were having kids (four under 4yrs over here), it kinda of got put on the back-burner. Occasionally I felt God asking me to pray about it, but not in the way I heard Him a few weeks ago. So loud in fact I brought the idea up to Aaron again on a date night (1.15.22) and he was super excited to start doing some research.
I quickly became very overwhelmed, but I learned a lot. I reached out to a couple people in Alabama I knew that had gone through adoption and asked them a couple questions, and one of them referred me to an agency I had not found in my research. I read every word of their website before I scheduled a call for the next day.
On Wednesday (1.26.22) Aaron and I spoke with the sweetest lady and were given space to share an overview of our story and ask our questions in a safe place. After the call, Aaron and I had such an incredible, almost unspeakable peace about starting this journey (& with that agency).
The following day (1.27.22), we went through some paperwork and created some next step actions our crew would take.
step one – make our decision public.
We told the girls we would be growing our family through adoption on Thursday morning (1.27.22) and they were ecstatic (after we explained what it meant). They have such incredible, open, loving hearts and we’re excited to bring them alongside us as we pursue growing our family together.
No matter what brings you to adoption – it’s heavy. It’s a journey that brings out every emotion, even from just making the decision to pursue it. We have only just begun and already been met with immense joy and heartache. But God will be glorified in this adventure and however our story unfolds, we are confident this is what He has always planned for our crew.

[…] We announced that we are adopting at the very end of January, so February I would almost label “the adoption fundraisers prep” month. Most days I was driving around with the girls to pick up yard sale donations, emailing the company we are getting our merchandise from and trying to keep our rhythms strong. […]
[…] When we first announced we were adopting, my second action (after posting it on socials) was researching all the ways we could fundraise money. I read dozens of blog posts and they all had one same suggestion – t-shirts. […]
