8 year anniversary – lake vacation

Some friends of ours recently purchased a lakehouse and offer it as an Air BnB between their own personal visits. When they came to our adoption yard sale back in March, they kindly offered we could stay there anytime we wanted to relax. Shortly after, we texted them asking if our anniversary would be an okay time to accept their offer. They generously said “absolutely” and we were able to stay at this gorgeous, off the grid lakehouse from June 19th – 22nd.

Because the 19th was Father’s Day, the kiddos + Rick & Michelle (Aaron’s parents) came over to spend the evening with us. Unexpectedly, some good friends of ours were on the same lake with their boat and invited us to join them for an evening ride/swim. It was so much fun and was truly an incredible way to kick-off our time together!

The next morning (Monday, 6.20.22) we woke up to an empty house of just the two of us. We got breakfast and did some light shopping for food and then went back to the cabin where we played games, rested, watched movies, ate well and just flowed with the day.

Tuesday (6.21.22) was our actual anniversary but the day was similar to the last – lots of rest. We swam in the lake and I found a book in their collection that sucked me in.

That night we went out to eat for our anniversary at a delicious BBQ hole-in-the-wall.

When we got back to the cabin, we watched a movie and went to bed. On Wednesday (6.23.22) we packed up and headed home by mid-morning. It seriously was such a beautiful, peaceful time away. We loved being off grid and letting time stand still or slip by.

  1. […] The next morning (7.5.22) I woke up before my brother and enjoyed some time to myself, snuggling with their cat, journaling and finishing the book I started on our anniversary vacation. […]
