create life-giving words

[i can create a world with my words]

On Sunday, Pastor Chris from Church of the Highlands brought an amazing word about communication. It really challenged me, so I wanted to share it with you & hopefully challenge you as well.

He gave us 7 things to do every day, and if we did, we would see transforming results in a week. They are ::

  1. Praise –> highlight character qualities
Proverbs 25:11 – “A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”
  2. Thanksgiving
Proverbs 18:21 – The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
  3. Affection
Jeremiah 31:3 – I [God] have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
  4. Encouragement

  5. Kindness –> create a safe environment
Proverbs 15:1 – “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger”
  6. Truth in love –> you can share what you’re unhappy about, but don’t enforce it
Ephesians 4:15 – ” We will speak the trust in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ…”
  7. Prayer
Psalm 16:8-9 – “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure…”

This message has really challenged me to use my words to build others up & encourage others, NOT to discourage them. This has been my prayer every morning so far – that I would be a life-giver, not a destructive person.

I hope this can encourage you this morning to do the same 🙂
