nature day forest school – desert plants

Ironically, the day we’re studying desert plants is pours down rain! haha

After I got two tents set up and all of our activities underneath, our class began. The adults laughed as we learned about the rareness of rain in the desert (while it was raining for us) and how desert plants store water, support wildlife and survive in their environment.

As for snacks, I made these cactus pretzel sticks – cream cheese frosting with green food coloring + dipped in sprinkles to represent the spikes.

For activities, we played with Kinetic Sand and our fun wooden sensory bin toys. The kids loved this activity!

Our other activity was a mosaic cactus craft with cut-up paper.

It was really hard for me to find good books this week, so to bulk up our stack I grabbed some of our favorite learning / activity nature books.
