nature day forest school – dragonflies

We ended up having our class in a different spot this session and it worked out perfectly for our topic because we actually got to see live dragonflies flying over the pond.

For snack the kids had to make a fruit-lay of a dragonfly.

After the kids did a little exploring, we played a game to create a deeper appreciation for dragonflies and their skills. They are able to catch their food while flying so I tossed food at the kids while they zig-zagged and they tried to catch it. There were lots of “almosts,” but the kids still have a fun time!

To wrap up our session, we made some dragonflies out of popsicle sticks.
