…and then she turned 30!
When I look back on my 30th birthday week,
I am completely overwhelmed.
It started with my mom and brother coming into town and surprising me with his girlfriend (who I’ve talked with through text so hugging her in person was a hilarious mix of hugging a dear friend and still thinking to say “nice to meet you”) on Thursday (2.29).
That Saturday, we took our guests to the zoo and braved the busy Saturday crowd (a good reminder why I usually go on the weekdays haha).
Then my actual birthday happened on Monday (3.4) which was chill and felt very true to who I am at 30. A massage from one of my dear friends, a lunch date with Aaron, thrifting, my favorite dinner and the whole day captured in black&white on my polaroid camera. It was the best birthday.
The rest of the week was a beautiful time of connecting with some of my favorite people – my brother and his girlfriend of course (3.5), Aaron and I went to Brandon Lake’s concert (one of my favorite artists) (3.7) + movie night with some family friends (3.8). Then on Saturday (3.9), I had a mini-birthday party where I went thrifting and got lunch with some girlfriends. I even said “man, this is the best birthday party ever!”
I honestly thought that was the conclusion of my birthday celebration, until Sunday afternoon (3.10) I was completely blindsided by a surprise party my husband had been coordinating for months.
If you want to see my reaction, watch my Instagram-Reel here.
It took me so long to fall asleep that night because I was just reliving it all in my brain and trying to put the experience and feelings into to words. I’m undone. I have never felt so loved and treasured as I have this past week. I’m so grateful for the community God has surrounded us with these past couple years. Truly overwhelmed just thinking about it.
And then on Tuesday (3.12) I got dinner with a girlfriend who is turning 30 at the end of the month and we wanted to do a little something together to celebrate.
