21 days of prayer & fasting – week 2

Here are the notes I take from the week’s quick 10 minute messages we hear every morning (Monday – Friday).

{scripture is from The NIV Bible unless otherwise noted}

MONDAY || 1.16.17 - Blake Lindsay

Mark 2:1-5 ~A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man,carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

They wanted to be where Jesus was.

Pursue Jesus passionately.

Trust Jesus unconditionally.

God doesn’t always gibe us what we want, but he will always give us what we need.

TUESDAY || 1.17.17- Aldger Armstead

What do you pay when you don’t know what to pray anymore?

Psalm 8:2 ~ Through the praise of children and infants, you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.”

When you don’t know what to pray, praise.

Shift your focus from the problem to the promise.

WEDNESDAY || 1.18.17 - Hamp Green

Grace is receiving something you do not deserve, but mercy is not receiving something that you do.

Matthew 9:27-30 ~ As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.”

If you cry out “have mercy on me,” it’ll change your prayer life.

When you cry out for mercy, you’ll become humble and have a humble heart.

Honor God in everything that you do because God is good all the time, no matter our circumstances.

THURSDAY || 1.19.17 - Brandon Isbell

Proverbs 28:1 ~ The wicked flee though no one pursues,
    but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

No matter what, Christ is enough.

The enemy might have some power, but he doesn’t have the throne.

Psalm 55:22 ~ Cast your cares on the Lord
    and he will sustain you;
he will never let
    the righteous be shaken.

FRIDAY || 1.20.17 - Chris Erwin

If you’ve had it “up to here” with things going on in your life, you’re probably trying to do it in your own strength instead of relying on God and his strength.

Acts 1:4-5 ~ On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.””

If you try to do life alone, it will overtake you.

Jesus wants to add the “super” to our “natural”

Power means you’ll have special ability to preform.

Confident hope is saying – “GOD CAN DO IT!”

SATURDAY || 1.21.17 - Jimmy Bowers

Prayer target – something specific that multiple people pray for.

Luke 10:2 ~ “He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

Pray for (plead for) leaders.

If it was important to Jesus then, it’s just as, if not more, important now.

Instead of focusing on the issue, look for people who can change it.

Ask God to make you into the leader he created you to be.
