This entire week I’ve been confused what day it is. But when I woke up this morning, I knew it was December 24th – Christmas Eve.
I intentionally don’t have plans today outside of some light food prep and a few evening traditions with our little family after Aaron gets home from work.
But as I sit in front of my Christmas tree, I can’t help but think of all the families whose Christmas looks completely different this year. Where traditions will be skipped or a vital family member is missing.
If you are struggling with the lack your children will wake up to tomorrow or you are mourning the loss of tradition and “normal,” I stand with you. I hope you embrace the feelings and take comfort knowing everyone’s holiday is different in some way.
But I encourage you to find simple joys in your Christmas this year. The sunrise, the white Christmas (lucky snowbirds 😉 ), the smell of fresh breakfast, hugging your kids, playing board games, singing Christmas songs – whatever you do, find the joy. Because at the end of the day, gifts are just stuff & traditions are manmade but the story of Christmas is still one of the greatest moments in history and is worth celebrating!
