Week 27
Symptoms :: My bladder feels like it has shrunk significantly as I feel the need to use the restroom waaaayyyyy more often! There have been a couple times where, out of absolutely no where, I’ve felt like I was going to explode if I did not relieve myself ASAP – so that’s new. Also, I’m starting to get more defined stretch marks on my sides (not on my belly though oddly enough) so I’m definitely going to need to make sure I stay on top of using that belly balm that I mentioned in my 2nd trimester overview post.
Food Aversions :: Nothing specific.
Food Cravings :: Sushi. But being that I can’t technically have sushi because of the uncooked fish, last night Aaron & I had Asian food (which was still really yummy and definitely hit the spot!)
Sleep :: For the most part, not too bad. I have to get up 1 or 2 times a night to use the bathroom and I wake up throughout to turn over, but that’s it.
Looking Forward To :: Having a little down-time before Fall comes and my list of things to get done before the baby arrives suddenly becomes more urgent. Hahaha.
Baby Purchases :: Nothing this week.
Fun Stories :: MONDAY I had a doctor’s appointment, which went really well! It was the appointment where they had to do a glucose test (a glucose test is a routine test during pregnancy that checks a pregnant woman’s blood sugar level. It’s basically to see if the pregnant woman has gestational diabetes). They pricked my finger, took some blood and then had me drink this red stuff (a lot of women told me it tasted nasty and made them gag or throw-up, but I didn’t have that experience at all. To me it tasted like a mix of juice & cough syrup, which still tasted gross, but not nearly as bad as I had imagined.). The first gulp I took was fine, but the more I drank it, the yuckier it tasted. I was glad to finally be done within a couple minutes and they told me to come back to the lab in a hour so they could see my results. In the meantime, I met with my nurse who weighed me and took my blood pressure (all normal – yay!). Then we saw our doctor who was very pleased with my health and we got to hear Rylie’s heartbeat. It was “very strong” and “in the 150’s” according to the doctor which made her very happy. After we asked our questions, I went back to the lab to see my results. They pricked my finger again, drew some blood and put it in a machine. Shortly after, a number popped up and they read it out loud and then looked at me and said, “you passed!” THANK GOD!!!! I wasn’t worried that I had gestational diabetes, but I definitely was glad to have that confirmed.
