I want to share a thought with you before I delve into this week’s update ::
Do you have those people that you don’t really know personally, but they inspire you and you love following them on social media? One of my favorite ladies I follow is a phenomenal role model to me in a couple areas, and one of them is the art of creating your own normal.
The definition of the word “normal” is – conforming to the standard; regular; natural. This got me thinking – why are people, who were created individually with very different likes, dislikes, dreams, passions, fears, attitudes, emotions, etc. try to conform (become similar) to others who were also individually created!? Who gets to decide what’s normal? What’s natural? What’s regular? “Normal” is what you make it. It should cater to you and the way you want your life to be!
I get that the Shaver Crew’s life right now seems crazy. It’s very different than what it was like in Seattle (Aaron & I have no rebuttals there), but we’ve had the opportunity to create our own normal. I get that it seems odd that we live in a house with 6 people (total) and 12 animals, but it’s our normal.
Life in Alabama is crazy, to say the least, but I’m blessed to do it all with my best friend!

Now for this past week’s highlights ::
Last Thursday was my last shift at Starbucks. It was bittersweet for sure, but overall I still stand by my choice to move on to new things. It will always have a place in my heart though 🙂 and trust me, I’ll be visiting to get my drink – trenta passion tea lemonade [sweetened] please! 😉
Friday morning the house woke up to a new addition – Meemaw! In last week’s Shaver Crew post, I mentioned Rick went to Texas to help move her over, and 5 days later they were here! That day was pretty much filled with them sleeping and then we had Fireside Friday’s (if you in the area, please let me know if you wanna come! We host a bonfire and roast s’mores and just hang out. It’s fun!). But Saturday, we woke up early to empty Meemaw’s 16-foot, packed to the roof from front to back, Penske truck into a storage unit a few minutes away from the house. We were on a tight schedule so me, Aaron, Rick & Michelle unloaded the truck as quickly as we could, and we actually got it done before noon.
Sunday we woke up and went to church – which is my favorite part about Sunday mornings. Every week I’m reminded why we moved here, and every week I’m so glad we did. This church has made all the difference and I am so thankful for it!
First thing on Monday morning, Rick and I set up a makeshift office in the dinning room and he spilled his brain and I (frantically – haha) wrote it down in a notebook in hopes to add some order to it. We actually covered a lot in the hours we worked and I’m so excited to the future our business have, both together and individually!
Yesterday morning (Wednesday), I woke up early (well, before my alarm was set to go off at 7am, which is considered early to me now lol), so I decided to get some tea and get my Jesus time in. I’ve been reading the book of John and this morning was chapter 4. This verse really stuck out to me – John 4:23-24 || “It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship.”
Probably my favorite verse as of right now ~ I feel like it points out so many good things.
+ yesterday I rocked my stressed-jeans, red converse, and an orange plaid shirt. It truly felt like fall! 🙂
I hope you’re enjoying the beginnings of fall, wherever you may be!
Have an awesome week! 😀
