“what could seem like a time to panic might just be a gift from God to help us all get some unexpected time to rest and reconnect with family.”

Don’t forget Parents – you are the gatekeepers of your home which means you get to control what your kids are hearing about what’s going on in the world right now. Maybe instead of “we’re stuck at home!” & “you can’t play with your friends!” try “let’s get creative!” & “we get to have special family time.”
You may be sticking close to home, but you can also find some really creative ways to show love to your friends and those in your community without germs. I’ll be sharing some we came up with as the days go on.
I know many of us are trying to juggle schedules and loss of income (we’re right there with you.) but don’t forget to find beauty in these quiet times with your people.
Do it for you sweet child’s soul and for the sake of your own mental heath.
Can we just acknowledge that the world is acting crazy right now!? Fear spreads like wild fire but so can peace and joy. My family is choosing the latter. We are being wise in our preparation and doing what we can for ourselves and for others.
But in the midst of it all, no matter what side you stand on, I hope you utilize this extra time and pursue togetherness as a family. Play a board game. Watch a movie together with lots of popcorn. Build a fort and sleep in the living room. Talk. Tell old stories. Read together (or separately). Find little ways to grow closer together. Because at the end of the day, God is giving us a gift… the gift of time. Time that your kids would be at school gets to be refocused as more time with them. Time that your husband (or you) would be at work not gets to be spent with your kiddos.
I pray that each of you finds little blessings in the midst of this trying few weeks.
Make some memories people! It’s worth it.
