forest school – autumn theme

This is week 3 of our sweet forest school and I’m still so thankful to be a part of this community! The first week we learned about gardening, second week was harvesting, and this week was about Autumn.

Forest School or Nature School is best described as learning that happens while playing outside. Of course you can do this on your own (as we do), but it’s always fun to include friends.

Our time together starts off with a 30-minute lesson. This week we talked about leaves changing colors and it was fascinating. I learned so much.

After the lesson, the kids got to go play / explore for the remainder of our class time.

Snack was trail mix (raisins, mini marshmallows, chex cereal and nuts.

The also got to dissect pumpkins and hammer golf-pegs into a pumpkin.

Our family always finds ourselves over at the reading tent at some point, and I read this book to Emmaline while we ate our snack. It was very cute. Definitely recommend!

There was also slices of tree with holes drilled in the top with peanut butter and seeds available so we could make bird feeders. It was a hit and I even made one to bring home.

I got to this post late, so this coming Thursday is our next class and I am so excited! Only a few classes left…
