Did you guys hear about the new Monthly Book Box I just announced for my fellow book lovers? You can read all about it here, but the cliffnotes is I chose a theme for each month this year to take an Usborne book and create a craft and snack to go with it.
I initially created this for our family and then realized how fun it would be to do this with others! Now, everyone has the opportunity to purchase the book and then follow along with the hands-on activity (craft) and snack I’ll put together and share right here on my blog.
That being said, for January I chose to focus on winter and brought out our Shine-A-Light book. This series is so fun and one of UBAM’s top sellers. They are so creative, educational, hands-on and is a good wind-down before bedtime. Read the story and shine a light through the page to have a secret picture appear.
For this months craft, I decided to create a hands-on, brain working printable specifically focusing on matching & fine motor skills.
I titled it Animal Feet but you could also call it Animal Tracks if you want. The idea is to see which footprint matches each forest animal.
I put blanks below each animal so your kiddo can name each of their new forest friends. And you can’t forget your child’s name at the top 😉
I gave my pre-schooler, Rylie, a little bowl of Cheerios to place on each dot, connecting the animal to their feet. This not only encourages fine motor skills, but also allowed for us to talk about each footprint and the animal it belonged to.
You can get my FREE Animal Feet printable here.
Are you going to try this out? Let me know if you do and tag me on Instagram if you share a
photo of you guys having some learning fun with the free printables!
