A couple weeks ago, a friend of mine group-texted me and a couple other friends asking if we wanted to go to a studio and paint. Looking to dive deeper into relationship with these fellow mamas, I said yes to this kid-free activity. And I am so glad I did!
We got there and our table had a canvas waiting for each of us. After we grabbed an apron, we were instructed to tape an outline of whatever we wanted and then paint our canvas a solid color to help the splattered paint stick.
The four of us ladies went in pairs of two into the splatter room, and all I could think was what a fun wall design for a playroom or kid’s bedroom.
After drying our pieces with a hairdryer and making any last minute touch ups, we were good to go.
I am not an artist in the painter world, but I do believe everyone is an artist in some department. Everyone can create something. For years I thought the word “create” and “artist” only meant doing something with your hands like painting, drawing, wood-working, pottery, etc. And then someone redefined that word for me and I realized that I am an artist too. Even though I can’t paint or draw well, I can write and see a photo before it’s even taken. I create moments through my parties and my blog is probably my favorite form of “creating” that I make.
I’m not a painter, but I had a blast. And you better believe I’ll be going there again.
