In December, I shared that my grandmother wrote a children’s book – Mimi’s Gift – and sold copies as an adoption fundraiser. Well, she actually also wrote a sequel.
Mimi’s Sunrise Surprise.
Mimi’s Sunrise Surprise is a fictional story based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania during WW2 where Mimi, a Moravian (one of the oldest protestant denominations in Christianity, dating back to the 1400s) is thrilled to be invited to spend Easter vacation at her grandparent’s farm and lead the town’s parade. Come along with Mimi and her new friends as she turns a disappointment into a joyous event and share in Mimi’s excitement on Easter morning.
Although I was older and embarking on my teen years, I still remember watching her write, surrounded by pages and illustrations as she worked on her dream.
Similar to Mimi’s Gift, the book opens with Grandma and Ruth having a tea party. Ruth the character that is based after me (you’ll notice she’s older then she was in the first book to resemble my growth as well).
