moving week

Moving week feels like a whirlwind. Like I shared in our “the story leading up to our move” post, the owners of our new home were kind enough to let us move in despite having a for sure closing date.

We found out on Monday (2.1.20) afternoon and almost immediately drove out to the property. We sat outside our house and ate Jack’s in the car for dinner since the house was unexpectedly locked, but I’m still calling it our first meal at our new house ;P

Tuesday morning (2.2.20) we drove back out and were given the keys. ๐Ÿ˜€ We walked around, did some room planning (please notice Aaron & Rylie taking steps in the rooms to decide which one was actually bigger hahaha) and ate a snack before heading back home to frantically begin moving our stuff over (mainly out of excitement but we really did need to be out of our house).

The remainder of the week (2.3-5.20) was spent moving all the things. Because it was during the week, our pre-planned help was working so Aaron and I solo moved but Michelle (Aaron’s mom) usually helped out for a couple hours after she got off.

I love this picture of Aaron taking a lunch break. It made me laugh as he ate his food, taking in the new sights of his front yard.

Wednesday (2.3.20) was our first night in the house. It was a late one – way past the girls’ bedtime but we got all three beds set up before laying them down.

Thursday (2.4.20) I awoke early and decided to watch the sunrise. It did not disappoint and Aaron wasn’t far behind me. We stared in awe together and watched a smile overtake both our faces. This was home.

The girls woke up and walked out with big smiles as we spent the first morning in our new home.

We took a run back to our hold house and ate lunch – a hodgepodge of random leftovers from the fridge (my desperate attempt to clean it out before we brought it over the next day).

I’ll admit that moving at 23 weeks pregnant is not something I’d recommend haha I craved so much water (which I gladly partook of) and probably physically overdid it (at least that’s what my body said once we were finished) but you all know I’m a doer and I felt bad having Aaron do literally everything. Don’t worry, I used common sense and didn’t lift heavy things.

On Friday (2.5.20), we all were definitely over it. Our moving runs were of all the dinky things we didn’t necessarily use everyday and the girls were tired of waking up, leaving, playing in an empty house, long drives and late nights. I honest didn’t blame them – I was tired of it too but pushing through to get that “we’re done!” feeling.

We did the best we could of course to accommodate their routine and keep life as normal as possible, but naturally we slipped in some areas and extended everyone a lot of grace because we were in such a heavy transition season.

Saturday (2.6.20) Aaron had some pine straw work so I started unpacking.

Day by day, these four walls became more and more like home to us. Even Kylo found his groove and seemed so happy to have his new giant yard.

We’re snuck out a couple times to do some exploring, but it’s honestly been raining a lot (praise God it held off until after we moved out stuff over) so we’ve been able to spend lots of time enjoying those toys we packed over a month ago. ;P
