I’ve been doing a lot of reflection as my 30th birthday draws near.
30!
Geez. It sounds crazy and yet feels so natural. I honestly feel like I’ve been 30 for a long time. I made a lot of really “adult” decisions in my early-20’s (getting married, moving across the country, having kids, buying houses, etc.) so in a way, it’s a sigh of “I’m finally the age I’ve been acting for years.”
I’m actually really excited to be 30 – I’m really proud of the things I did and accomplished in my 20s.
Although I have lots of beautiful memories in my 20s,
here are my top 10.
Being Married (20yrs) – getting married at 20 was wild. Forever grateful to be doing life with my best friend and celebrating 10 years of marriage this summer.
Moving to Alabama from Washington State (21yrs) – starting over was one of the best things I ever did. But it was one of the best things that could have happened for me. Sweet HOME Alabama.
Birthing Four Children (22, 24, 25 & 27yrs) – unmedicated, natural birth x4. I’m really proud of that.
Graduating Highlands College *with honors* (24yrs) – one of my biggest redemption stories for the girl who graduated high school with a C.
Hawaii (25yrs) – the best vacation I’ve ever been surprised with & I got to check off my bucket list item of swimming with sea turtles.
Moving to the Property (26yrs) – HOME! And it brings me so much peace + joy.
Being “Mama” (22yrs+) – I remember all the moments I thought I wasn’t capable, but God has graced me with everything I need. I’m a freaking awesome mom. And more importantly than how I had my kids is the way I raise them and the life we create.
Starting the Adoption Journey (27yrs) – one of the most brutal, painful, faith-stretching things I’ve ever done. BUT it’s brought me closer to the Lord and that is a top moment.
Finding Myself – by 29 years old, I could confidently say “I know who I am. I know what I like. I know what I believe in. And I know what I’ll stand up for.”
Starting Shaver Creative (29yrs) – the job I was made for.
