nature day forest school – bear

Our theme this Winter Unit has been WINTER ANIMALS. Last week we learned about deer, and this week we studied bears.

Our lesson was some fun facts about bears (after I tried to convince the kids we were going to sleep the whole class because bears are currently still hibernating… they laughed and didn’t fall for it of course but the parents seemed hopeful haha). We also read a story which everyone enjoyed.

Next was snack, a bear mix consisting of cranberries, granola, gold fish crackers, Chex cereal, honey teddy grahams, nuts, raisins & mini marshmallows.

After everyone had their baggies, I cleaned up the snack table and got out our activity – coloring bear paws. Here’s the link if you’d like to do it at home.

Once everyone had colored, we got in a line and put on our “forest eyes” so we could spot bears on our hike to the forest.

The kids broke up into two groups and laid out their paw prints for the other group to find. They had a good time with it.

Overall, it was a really fun class session.
