I read a book the other day and the author was describing how his family doesn’t use the word “goals” at the beginning of a New Year. He only uses the word “formation.”
The definition of a goal is “the object of a person’s ambition or effort; an aim or desired result.”
The definition of formation is “the action of forming or process of being formed.”
GOALs are a desire.
FORMATION is an definite.
GOALs are a desire.
FORMATION is an action.
I appreciated this author’s perspective and I found myself changing my own language in this area. I’m not hoping for these New Year adjustments in my life, I’m planning on them. These are not things I plan on just doing for a short amount of time in January, I’m committed to forming them as a part of my lifestyle.
With that said, I wanted to share some things God laid on my heart to add/adjust to my life in 2021. My hope is that it encourages you, maybe sparks a new thought and ultimately, makes you think “am I chasing goals or am I building formations in my life this year!?”
