Our family loves books, and I’m thankful it’s a value we’ve created. At the beginning of this year, I started keeping a list of those library finds that I just loved! You know, the ones you’d be willing to purchase because they’re just that good!?
You can check out my top picks from the first quarter of 2022 here – and here is part two for the second quarter.
Either search for them at your local library, used bookstore or get them off Amazon because, for real, they are worth it!

the carrot seed
The things I can parallel this book to. So many wonderful messages in this short story.
building our home
Based on the author’s real life, he shares his family’s journey as they found land and built their house while they were young children & growing their family.
this is my home, this is my school
Written by the same guy who wrote “building our home,” this sequel highlights his family homeschooling. The family is older (just by a few years) and it’s just as charming at the first.
I can only draw worms
I have never laughed at a book so hard! This book is hilarious to the adult reader and should be borrowed or purchased ASAP.
the boy who was raised by librarians
This book follows a young boy who grows up in the library and it is so sweet. I think it hit home for me because of our weekly library trips and the relationship we have with our librarians.
the kiss box
Based on the author’s real life relationship with her son, this is a sweet book to help comfort kids when their loved ones are away + offers a craft opportunity if you’re interested.
let’s go home
This book was sweet – it highlights each room of the house and why it’s special. As a person who loves home, this was great!
exclamation mark
I love this book! So much!!!!!!
dragons love tacos
We used to own this book but a toddler destroyed it but I wish we owned it again. This book is great!!! As a fellow taco lover (+ dragons are just awesome!), this book is phenomenal!
train
Such a fun book for train lovers! This highlights several different kinds of trains, what they do and the pictures are beautiful. Learning mixed with a story is always a win.
butts are everywhere
This is one of those books that is goofy but weirdly educational. Us adults were like “huh. didn’t know that!” fairly regularly hahaha
