Some friends of ours live in a neighborhood where they do a neighborhood yard sale, and they offered us their driveway for our adoption yard sale. We gladly accepted.
Our first yard sale was incredibly successful for only one day (we raised over $2,600), but we had a lot leftover. I put out a couple requests on Facebook for donations but still decided to go through the boxes and decide what we thought was just junk and what was worth trying to sell again.
We stopped by the thrift store on our way to our friends house to drop off the stuff.
It was a two-day sale but Friday (5.6.22) was predicted to be 90% chance of rain. So I decided to cancel the Friday sale. But when I woke up at 5-something-AM, I checked the weather and it was only 40% for an hour (and usually when it’s that low, it doesn’t end up happening). I texted my friend and we agreed to give it a shot. So I got the kids up and we booked it to my friend’s house.
We had an incredible turnout and were steady all day.
We raised $702 that day!

Two mamas with 7 kids total (2 under one years old) & only three injuries (all on my own kids π ) but only one involved blood so ππ»π
Seriously, blown away. Yesterday it said 90% chance of rain so I cancelled the sale BUT when I woke up, it was 0% π³ loaded up the kids and booked it to my friendβs house & look how God showed off today π€π»π
Saturday (5.7.22) was a beautiful day and we regularly had multiple families shopping all day.
We had left everything out overnight so on the way to our friend’s house I set out some signs. I was happy to see customers as early as 6:50am.
We slowed down right at lunchtime so I pulled the signs and we started cleaning up around 1pm.
Our original plan was to put it back in my friend’s garage and we’d come back on Aaron’s off day to load it up and take it to the thrift store. But my friend’s mom told her that if you call the thrift store they will come pick it up for you. I was so excited and thankful! All we had to do was pull it to the curb. Easy.
$607 + the $21 I found in my pocket after this pic was taken π so this 2-day yard sale blessed us with $1,329 to put towards our adoption ππ»
Our second adoption yard sale raised $1,329 towards our adoption.
My heart is so thankful – thankful for our friend’s who offered their time and home to our yard sale. Thankful for the people that I met. Thankful to the people who purchased and straight donated. And, most of all, thankful that God present, active and is being glorified in this journey.
