We had Rylie’s 1st birthday party on Sunday afternoon on November 12th. We invited friends from various areas of our life and we were so blessed and awestruck by how many families came to celebrate our little girl.
Thanks to Aaron, we had one of the best themes ever (I’m a little biased though) – Wonder Woman. Otherwise known as 1-der Woman. 😝
Rylie took a nap while we were setting up and woke up with a growling belly, so I got her a snack. Meanwhile, Aaron had passed out on the couch after a full Saturday and Sunday afternoon setting up for the gathering. I feel like it’s such a perfect description of how the parents feel about the 1st birthday… exhaustion haha 😛 just kidding 😉
We got Rylie dressed up in a Wonder Woman costume and luckily she was so distracted by all her guests that she didn’t try to take her headband off until towards the end.
We had food, toys, and a photo booth for our guests to enjoy. When a family said they needed to head out, we made sure to get a polaroid photo of them with Rylie. They all turned out so good and was such a fun party favor!
I love this picture haha it’s basically the face I was making the whole time trying to get Rylie to look at us while Aaron was taking polaroids of her with her guests 😀
It was so busy that the time literally seemed to be flying by. Before we knew it, it was 6pm and all our guests had gone. We had a little fruit cake (like we had for her smash cake shoot) prepared, but we decided to save it since only family was left. We got Rylie some much needed dinner (even though she had been snacking on fruit and cheese during the party – girl was hungry 😉 ) and gave ourselves a chance to catch our breath and make our own plate of snacks.
Once we were done eating, we sat on the floor with Rylie and opened her presents. We had specifically told our friends that they didn’t need to feel obligated to get Rylie anything, but if they did, we would love books or money to go towards educational experiences. She got a couple toys but the majority of her gifts were what we had requested. We were so thankful for everyone’s generosity! Rylie was more interested in the tissue paper though. 😝
Overall, it was a great 1st birthday party.
We loved celebrating our girl and are so blessed to have such a great community of friends who joined us.
