It was so hard for me to settle on a theme for our son’s first birthday. I played around with several ideas, but ultimately, Daddy (Aaron) lit up at the idea of a Lord of the Rings themed party –
ONE ring to rule them all…
We focused on the adventure aspect and I had a lot of fun simplifying a fan-favorite.
I also had a friend of mine make Spencer’s party cake and all I can say is WOW!!!!!
I’ve learned our family does best to take our posed photos before the party starts 😉 haha so we got those done.
Our guests began to arrive so it was time to party!
We played, ate and chatted for a while before we decided it was time to dive into the cake.
Paisley and the girls had been practicing the “happy birthday” song for days, so they were all smiles when the big moment came.
We gave him a cupcake to smash and he definitely enjoyed it!
Once he got cleaned up and we had played a little more, we gathered in the living room for presents (an activity that seems to be immensely enjoyed by other children for some reason haha).
One of the gems though was my mom & younger brother gifted Spencer some of our childhood train set pieces, including tracks, trains and train cars. Spencer also got a conductors hat and train whistle.
It was a truly thoughtful and meaningful gift that my brother would pass along part of our childhood to my son.
Spencer’s little bestie thought it was an awesome gift too.
Our party time concluded and we are so thankful for all our friends and family who have contributed to Spencer’s first year of life!
