the early signs

I’m still so excited that Aaron & I announced our big news online. It’s been so nice to be able to be open about it with everyone. It also allows for some great blog posts πŸ˜‰

For this post in particular, I thought I’d share the story of why I even thought to take a pregnancy test.

The days leading up to taking the test, I was noticing differences in myself that were unusual. For example, I realized I was eating a lot more than normal.

The first time I noticed it, I was hanging out with my friend Amanda, and she offered to make lunch – shredded pork sandwiches. I gladly accepted and she asked if I wanted one sandwich or two. Normally, I only eat one sandwich, but for some reason, I felt extra hungry, so I asked for two (as long as she promised to not judge me πŸ˜› ). As I finished my first and gladly took a bite into my second, I thought the whole situation was odd. I mean, I NEVER eat two sandwiches… but I figured I just didn’t have enough for breakfast that morning. So I went about my day and didn’t think much of it again.

A day or two later, I was on my way to work at the elementary school, and I was really hungry and I knew I wasn’t going to make it comfortably until I was off and could get dinner. So I stopped at the closest grocery store and jetted in to get a deli sandwich. I grabbed a foot long turkey sandwich on french bread assuming I’d have left-overs. I scarfed it down during the drive to wok, and even ate some of it while waiting for the kids to arrive. Before I knew it, the sandwich was completely gone. Knowing I had had a full breakfast and a decent lunch, I found my ability to eat a whole foot-long sandwich in that short amount of time and feel completely justified was peculiar.

Another thing I noticed was I felt dehydrated often. I drink a lot of water daily anyway, so the fact that I was STILL thirsty threw me off.

I also found myself getting emotional over petty things that would normally never cause me to loose my cool.

All this happened within 5 days, so by Thursday (March 10th), I figured it couldn’t hurt to just see if all this might be a sign I was pregnant….
