Friday (5.6.22), a mama stopped by the yard sale with her son & infant daughter. She bought some things & we had a great conversation about our adoption journey so far & our goals / dreams.
On Saturday, she came back with two more of her kids and I specifically went up and chatted with them! “We have something to tell you.” The mom said, looking at the kids. “Okay. What’s up!?” I said, looking at the kiddos.
The 7-year-old told me they had a little yard sale that morning & wanted to GIVE US THE MONEY! 🤯😭
My eyes literally filled with tears and my heart swelled.
“Are you serious!? Wow!!!” Was all I could get out. I asked for each of their names & gave them all big hugs as I accepted the sandwich bag of money.
I asked them what they sold at their yard sale, & the kids told me they picked out toys, stuffed animals, and some other things around their house.
Their mom proceeded to tell me when she got home the day before, she told their family about us and what we were doing. She asked them if they’d like to “perform a service” and they decided to have a yard sale for us.
Wrecked guys. I was (& still am) wrecked. 😭
The kids are 7, 5 & 3 years old.
Children are not too young to understand adoption. And they want to help! Just like Emmaline wanting to sell flowers or these sweet strangers who sold their belongings just to bless our family. Talk to your kids about adoption – it’s not as complicated as we make it!
