TUESDAY (4.25.17) some mommy-friends invited Rylie & I to go to the zoo with them. With a ride and a free pass into the zoo, I was more then happy to get out of the house and spend some time with our friends!
I packed Rylie up for the afternoon and we headed out.
Rylie LOVES the outdoors. She could be crying but take her outside or set her by a window and she’ll immediately stop and look around. So I had a feeling she would enjoy the zoo even if she didn’t understand the concept of it.
While we waited for Kerra (& baby Jude) to pick us up, I sat Rylie and myself on a swing outside and enjoyed the breeze. Rylie was loving it so I couldn’t resist taking this video (& sharing it – because it’s just too cute π ) ::
I rode with Kerra (& Jude), and we met up with Heather (with Hadden & Edith), Candice (& Logan), Meghan (& Nolin) and Stephanie (& Harper). We started our little “baby train” and went to the look at some animals.
We made it through pretty much all of the exhibits, and each baby seemed at least somewhat interested in what was going on, or at least enjoyed the stroll. π
Rylie loved walking around and enjoying the sites. She was all smiles π Unless the sun was in her eyes… she wasn’t a huge fan of that π
When I first found out I was pregnant, I was so excited, but I also felt so alone. Being new to Alabama, I had no friends who were in the same season of life as me… that summer, I went to a small group called “expectant mothers” in a desperate attempt to make some mommy-friends. We all started out pregnant together & one by one we’ve had our babies. Almost a year later, I’m so thankful to call these ladies my friends! They’re always there to answer mommy questions and to share in the joys & struggles of being a new mama. Today, some of us got to go to the zoo, & while we were walking around with our babies and chatting, all I could think was “thank God for @churchofthehighlands and their small groups – because my life has changed because of these relationships!”
My sweet girl did start getting noticeably tired towards the end of the visit, and sure enough, as soon as I buckled her into her car seat to go home, she passed out. π

I’m so glad she had such a great time! I did too and I am so thankful for the ladies who made it possible π We missed those who couldn’t make it, so it’s just an excuse to do it again soon π π
