Second week of Themed Days is in the books and I’m excited to share them on the blog today.
Instagram is where I’ve been sharing our themes daily, so if youβre not already, make sure youβre following me. @sarahmshaver
Just like last week, I’ll be sharing more details how I pulled each one off. Remember, Pinterest and my printer are my current bffs.
Understandably, there are some things we already had that you might not and now want. To help you out, Iβve linked our Amazon items.

Theme Day Eight – CARS π
We took a little drive of our own and then came home to make our own cars out of giant boxes leftover from our move this past December. I gave each girl a handful of markers and let them scribble to their hearts content.
I gotta give a shout out to my childhood on this one! And an award goes to my mom for finding the photos and sending them my way.
Side Note: if you don't have a large box at home, grab a laundry basket or a plastic tub.
After coloring their cars, we drove them to the drive-in (our living room) where they ate dinner & watched CARS3.
I had several friends rave about this idea and how much their kids enjoyed it. Seriously – it’s a lot of fun!
I also created a Car Ride Printable that you can snag here!
Theme Day Nine – OCEAN π³
The girls woke up and instantly ran to their boxes and began coloring some more. I decided to tell them their car had transformed into a submarine (they also got to learn what that was. I basically said “it’s a boat that is completely underwater.” Good enough?).
We kicked off Ocean Day with a Jelly Fish craft. I just cut a semi-circle out of paper and let the girls choose a streamer color from our birthday box.
Our snack for the day was fishy graham crackers – homemade blue frosting, graham crackers (whole and crushed) and gold fish crackers.
To end the day, we sat in our submarine boxes & watched an ocean themed movie. π
Theme Day Ten – SPRING πΏ
This was the first day of April and it was a gorgeous day outside I was inspired to celebrate spring.
This was also the day I took Emmaline’s 2nd Birthday photos, so we started our day with a little tea party.
For our craft, we made handprint bumblebees.
I let the girls free paint afterwards and I totally caught them both painting their own hands and pressing it onto their papers haha. Clearly this kind of a craft is a favorite.
For snack they had worms coming out of dirt snacks (chocolate pudding with sour gummy worms).
Rylie kept saying, “Mama! I’m eating DIRT.”
After snack, I recruited the girls from some spring cleaning since the house was covered in random toys, laundry and crumbs. We cleaned up all their toys in the house, straightened up their playroom, swept and vacuumed + did the dishes.
We wrapped up our afternoon with some time outside – mainly playing with our new chalk.
After dinner, the girls enjoyed a fruit pouch while watching VeggieTales!
Theme Day Eleven – SPIDER-MAN π·
I intentionally planned Spider-Man to be the theme for this day to excite my 3-year-old daughter who is obsessed with this superhero. I used the leftover birthday party decor from Rylie’s party which was fun to dig back out.
I also made-up a new recipe (coming to the blog soon cuz it was yum!) which the girls LOVED (Aaron and I were munching on it over the weekend too and he seemed impressed that I made it with no references π ).
Rylie helped me make it and of course I caught her snacking on it while we were making it π
To round out the day, we got dressed in our spider-gear (which we actually have a lot of) while we watch Spiderverse movie.
Theme Day Twelve (4.3.20) – EMMALINE β¨
Today was Emmaline’s 2nd Birthday, so it 100% was our theme for that day.
I just did some streamers in our breakfast nook and the birthday banner I saved – all of which was in our birthday box.
We celebrated it by doing all the things Emmaline loves (quarantine edition). Our morning walks have been a favorite of hers, so after breakfast I got them ready and we headed out.
For lunch we had tea style cut sandwiches.
We did a crown craft, but only Rylie seemed interested π
Before dinner I gave the girls a mini pamper session with a little manicure. For a 3 and 2-year-old they stay remarkably still.
I dressed them in the robes my sister-in-law gave Rylie and I for her wedding (I was a bridesmaid and Rylie was our 20-month-old flower girl). Emmaline wore the one Rylie was given and I stuck Rylie in mine – which was incredibly too big but worked for the 10-minutes we did this activity.
We decided to splurge for the birthday girl and got Dominos for dinner. Aaron said he made a note on the online order saying it was Emmaline’s 2nd birthday and we were surprised to find sweet notes in the boxes + a free box of cinnamon twists. Thanks Dominos for the free birthday dessert π
Emmaline called the “Happy Birthday” song βhappy dayβ and it’s precious! She sang it randomly throughout the day and got especially giddy when we sang it to her after dinner.
We ended the day with her absolute favorite movie – Zootopia π°π¦
Theme Day Thirteen – BUNNY π°
Our favorite stuffed friend (Emmalineβs Bunny) was the inspiration for this theme. Simple decorations from Uplifting Mayhem blog were perfect for our Bunny Day.
Our activity / craft was to paint a bunny. I printed a bunny silhouette, taped it to a white paper and let the girls paint around it. When they were done and the paint had dried, I peeled off the silhouette and revealed an outline of a bunny.
For lunch a used a cookie cutter and made a bunny quesadilla.
After quiet time we took a nice walk and enjoyed the gorgeous spring air.
And to top it all off, we finished the day by finishing our favorite Bunny movie – Zootopia – which we had started the day before for Emmaline’s birthday.
