Today, I wanted to share with you why I believe it’s worth paying for a professional photographer for your photos. Whether that be just once or multiple times throughout your life. This post may seem biased because I am a professional photographer, but I promise you I’m looking at this from all angels.
Life is fleeting. It’s amazing how quickly it goes by. Parents can attest to this better than anyone, but the older I get, the more I notice it’s suddenly October when it feels like just yesterday it was June. All that to say, it’s amazing how quickly life can change. Cell phone photos are good, but there’s something to be said about a good DSLR with a creative individual standing behind it. Plus, it’s nice to actually have EVERYONE in the photo and not looking awkward with the selfie stick or recruiting your “longest-armed” friend and using them as a make-shift selfie stick.
I know a huge reason why people don’t hire professional photographers to take their photos is because of money. And I know that it is an investment! But, please hear my heart when I say this – it’s money vs. your loved ones.
In today’s society, we are sometimes more protective of our money than we are of the people in our lives. We would rather spend our money on something tangible that we’ll soon grow to dislike instead of spending money on photographs that will document a season of life you will never again get to recapture.
My point is, yes, hiring a professional photographer for any kind of session is an investment, but isn’t it worth it? Wouldn’t you rather see a beautiful, artistic photo of your now graduating son when he was 2 years old, and you’re in the photo with him instead of a grainy photo of him and you’re nowhere to be found.
I promise, you’ll treasure that memory for life! It’s worth it.
Before you book a shoot, let me share with you my biggest piece of advice when it comes to choosing pick your next professional photographer – you need to be friends with your photographer, or at the very least, get along well. You guys need to mesh. When collaborating on a session, you want them to be able to see your vision, &/or be able to show you theirs. You also want someone who will get back to your emails, phone calls or texts quickly &, most importantly, will give deliver your photos to you in a timely manner. Become friends with your photographer. It will make the photos seem more real and genuine too because you’ll be more relaxed and won’t be so nervous. It’s a win-win for everyone.
All that to say, I hope I could give you a different perspective of professional photographers. Our job is to document life, and it is worth every penny to document yours!

So let me tell you a little bit about me ~ I am a 20-something married lady to the best man in the world! He’s phenomenal & I’m so lucky to have dibs on him for the rest of my life. We recently moved from Seattle, Washington to Birmingham, Alabama, so we’ve been working on settling in. I started my blog – The Shaver Crew – to keep record of our life since moving 3,000miles away from family & friends. Documenting life is something I love doing. I love capturing all of it – photos, memories, videos, yeah, I’m THAT person. But months later, someone is usually thanking me. 🙂 Thankfully, my husband enjoys it as well 😛 I also own a photography business & LOVE IT! It’s amazing that my passion is now my full-time job!
