young living convention trip – 2023

This past week (7.12-14.23) I spent a couple days in Salt Lake City, Utah with thousands of people who all love Young Living’s products so much they are sharing the goodness as Brand Partners.

Since I decided to start my own YL business in June 2020, I’ve watched online from my couch. Last year specifically I really wanted to go but I was so immersed in adoption fundraising, I opted to stay home.

Shortly after I had chosen my word for 2023 (Healthy) and decided I was going to do some special things for myself this year, I decided to really fight to go on this trip. I brought it up a few times to Aaron and asked what would need to happen to make it a reality. Paid, booked, done.

For the following months, I saved my fun-money. I paid some things along the way, like the hotel room (I chose to room with friends so the hotel cost would be less) and booked red-eye flights (y’all know those tickets are a lot less money).

Tuesday evening (7.11) I hopped on a plane towards Salt Lake City.

After one layover, I arrived just after midnight. I stayed the night in the airport (a frustrating decision really as it was impossible for me to get comfortable enough to fall asleep so I ended up only slightly nodding a couple times before giving up at 4am) and then slowly got ready for the day while I waited for my friends to fly in.

In our recent book haul I got 4 copies of this Airport sticker book, 1 for each of the girls and 1 for me.

Once we had all gathered Wednesday morning, we immediately jumped into it – we dropped our luggage off at the hotel, went and registered for the convention (hey-o gear) and met-up with some pals.

Let me take a moment to say I’ve only ever interacted with these ladies online. So being able to hug them in person was so so sweet!

We got on the bus and rode about an hour away to one of Young Living’s lavender farms.

When I tell you it was a dream… ugh… the surrounding buildings were beautiful, they had Ningxia available (if you know, you know 😉 and we got to tour a distillery and see their process for extracting the oil from the plant and how they get it in the bottles.

And of course, we walked through the fields and combined took a zillion photos and videos. Hey, it’s content for the year 😉

A bucket list item for me is to visit some of YL’s farms, and this was a beautiful one to check off the list first.

The remainder of the day was very relaxed. We got dinner and then I opted for bed.

Thursday (7.13) the general session started. The Young family (founders and owners) did a little presentation and from there we got to hear from various departments of the company who each announced one new Young Living product. Two of them really caught my attention and I was very excited to go try them out in the Expo.

Once we were released, we got lunch and then headed back to the convention center to tackle all the things…

The Expo is where every single product is displayed for you to see, touch, TRY with your own hands. I loved it!!!

The gift shop has the YL gear. I decided to grab a fanny pack (I’d been eying it for months), some pins and a sweatshirt that I got to pick out the logos for.

Club Red was also a highly anticipated place for me to visit because it is literally a Ningxia Bar. It’s a super fun place to hang out for a bit because they have music, a dance floor, games + more.

There’s also a section called The Bargin Market where they have certain products for 1/3 of the price. When we went the line was so long and slow moving we decided not to go but we heard from those who stuck it out that it was worth it.

That night we had dinner outside from a taco food truck while we socialized with some friends. I also got to meet the First Lady who introduced me to Young Living. I shared my story with her and she absolutely loved it and said it made her so happy!

Friday (7.14) morning started off with a breakfast chat with my team and a stop at our favorite coffee shop on the way. I’m telling you, an iced lavender latte is where it’s at.

The morning session was heavy. In good ways but it was bam-bam-bam of information and left everyone feeling exhausted by lunchtime.

After lunch I wasn’t feeling well and I couldn’t shake it so I went back to the hotel to get some snacks and rest. I also ended up packing because my flight was leaving that night.

My friends came back after a few hours and got ready for the party YL was throwing. I got ready too thinking I could swing it but I ended up feeling even worse. My body was tired, hungry and decided it as done.

I mustered enough energy to get to the airport only to find out my flight was canceled so I went back to my friend’s hotel room for a solid night sleep. My new flight was at 8-something AM so I got there a little before 7am and my full day of travel began.

Now that I’m home and rested, I’m reminiscing over my trip. My heart is so full.
