thankful thursday #4

Hey friends! How has your week been? I’ve been a little extra tired the last few days, but I’ve so deeply been enjoying 6am prayer before heading off to work that the exhaustion I feel by the end of the day is worth it. We also had our first week of class at Highlands College (it was supposed to be last week, but it was cancelled due to the icy roads) so our “busy” schedule is back in full swing. Unlike last semester though, I’ve taken precious care to ensure we don’t overcommit ourselves, so we have some much needed down time scheduled in our week as well.

Anyway, here is a little recap of the week 😊

THANKFUL THURSDAY

  • Walks with Rylie

On Sunday when we got home from church, Aaron was exhausted, so he decided to take a little nap. It was a gorgeous afternoon (in the 60’s), so I decided to take Rylie outside for some fresh air. I put her in the umbrella stroller with her baby doll because she kept saying “baby!” and reaching for it. We didn’t go very far – just a couple houses down our street but it was such a sweet time with my girl as I watched her taking in the light breeze and new sights. I heard some chirping and I saw her turn her head so I asked, “what do you hear Rylie?” and her little voice replied, “birbe” <3 (it may not be full on “birdie” but at least it’s not “baby” 😝 hahaha)

  • Mentors

Towards the end of December when I was thinking about some areas of my life that I wanted to improve on in 2018, one of the things God put on my heart was to get mentors and be consistent about meeting with them. There is a gal on staff at Highlands that I had met with a few times in 2017, but when life happened, we somewhat fell out of touch. I reached out to her again and we were able to catch up this week before my first class at HC (Highlands College) and it was so good! Not only did she share in my recent joys (finding out baby #2 was a girl and becoming homeowners), she also gave me some phenomenal advice and wisdom that I had been needing / praying for during these 21 Days. I walked away from our meeting reminded how good it is to be transparent with someone and let them speak into your life!

I’m still rocking the audiobook feature of my library and my most recent book completion was one that has been on my “reading list” for a while, but I never had time (or money) to get a copy. When I saw it was available to listen to (and it was read by Chip & Jo themselves), I instantly rented it and pressed “play!” Aaron and I are huge fans of their show, “Fixer Upper,” and we’ve always been curious how they got their start. It took me a few days to get through the book, but I didn’t mind. It was a great read (listen 😝) – easy, funny, and passionate. How God used their small beginnings is amazing and they are such a great family. Now to plan a trip to Waco, Texas to visit all their shops 😉

  • 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Guys – it’s the last week and we only have 2 days left! 🙁 Part of me wishes it would just keep going, but I guess that’s where I need to stay disciplined and create my own time with God. On Tuesday (1.30.18) I’ll share my recap of these past 21 Days + a couple things God taught me that I think will really encourage you as well 😊
