It was Easter time and my sweet mother-in-law had gifted Emmaline a pink stuffed bunny that came from WalMart. To be honest, I truly thought it would be a fun toy for a day and then it would get shuffled to the bottom of the stuffed animal bin.
And then we started noticing bunny was a frequent guest in the crib…. and the playroom… and the car… and in Emmaline’s arms. In the midst of tears, we saw Emmaline reaching for the furry friend and getting extremely excited when we pointed at it, indicating we had guessed correctly and that was, indeed, what she wanted.
Reflecting on the timeline, it didn’t take long for all of us to acknowledge that “bunny” was Emmaline’s treasure. You know, the toy that is a part of every game, goes everywhere, does everything and certainly, for the love of humanity, cannot be misplaced or forgotten.
I believe most children have something like that. I know I did. It was a baby doll named Korkie, and I still have her today. She’s something I treasure dearly and out of all the childhood toys I still have (I saved a few in hopes my kids would play with them), she’s the one I will always hold on to.
I absolutely love that Emmaline has something so precious to her. It allows for a great amount of laughter and it really doesn’t bother me to have to keep track of our stuffed friend. I’m honestly more concerned about what might happen if we lose it or when an ear will decide to fall off 😛
Whether you had a special friend growing up or you were never that attached to a toy, I think we all find a lot of joy in watching a little kid smile when they are playing with their best friend.
I love this! Definitely buy another one NOW and set it way up in your closet just in case. It was terrible when we wanted to get a “back-up” Corky and she had been replaced in the stores by a new style doll — That doll became ….. Crystal Ann.
We needed to get a 2nd mousey when Dan left him at R/C’s one time. Then We found the mini mousey as well. I still look for mousey at garage sales
Yeah, Emmaline. You hold bunny tightly and enjoy your friend.
