Today is our 5-year anniversary of living in Alabama.
Our last 5 years in Alabama have been nothing short of crazy, emotional, fun, incredible and life-changing.
When I realized it would be 5 years, I thought it would be fun to go down memory lane and share the photos we took from our drive down here from Seattle, Washington.
We were less than a week away from our 1 year wedding anniversary and no kids in sight. Clearly, now was the time for a cross-country move!
On June 15th, 2015, we packed up a 16-foot Penske truck with all our belongings, loaded up one car and drove away from the only place I had ever called home. I was excited and sad all at the same time.
Our fun little road trip took us through multiple states, and I love that we intentionally took a photo at every boarder!
Rick (my father-in-law) flew up to help us move. He and Aaron took turns driving and I have some sweet memories getting to know my father-in-law better during that trek.
June 16th we made is through a few more states, and we also went to Mount Rushmore.
We also stopped for dinner & watched the NBA finals (I think that’s what it was. I’m not into basketball like Aaron is 😛 all I know is we had to stop to watch all four quarters hahaha)
After the game was over, we pulled an all-nighter so we could get there faster.
In Illinois we stopped for dinner with Aaron’s grandma, and we also lost my cat (she must have jumped out of the truck while we were stopped). I was emotional about it then, but I got over it pretty quickly haha. By this point, I just wanted to get to Alabama and be done with this road trip.
We drove through the night again and I was awoken so we could take a picture in front of the Tennessee sign. I was clearly exhausted.
By mid-morning, we had arrived in Sweet Home Alabama!
The three travelers were so excited to arrive.
A couple days later, we unloaded all our stuff into a storage unit before beginning the next chapter in our Alabama story.
