bump update :: week 39

LAST BUMP UPDATE!!!!!

I’d also like to add that I did not make it this far with Rylie – I was only pregnant for 39 weeks and 1 day before needing to be induced. Whereas right now I am 39 weeks and 5 days.

Anyway, here is my last bump update. Thank you so much for following along with this pregnancy! It really has meant a lot to me that so many of you have read and commented on each week and cheered me on throughout this long but not long journey (haha :P). If you want to read a summary of this pregnancy, you can check out my pregnancy overview post.

Week 39:

IMG_7192

Symptoms ::  Nausea after breakfast, inconsistent cramping / contractions, I get physically exhausted easily and I’m starting to get that “bowling ball between your legs” feeling some people talk about.

Food Aversions ::  Nothing specific.

Food Cravings :: I’m still pretty indifferent most of the time.

Sleep :: I only get up once or twice a night to go to the bathroom (& when I go, my bladder is so full! It’s crazy hahaha), and I feel like I’m a very light sleeper which is not my norm. With a 4 day weekend I was able to take a nap pretty much every day and it was wonderful! I actually am starting to feel physically rested… (whhhaatttt!?!?!?!)

Looking Forward To :: Getting labor over with so I can hug, kiss, and love on our baby girl!

Baby Purchases :: Double stroller + a car seat. We already had a car seat but we wanted to get another one so we’d have one in each car.

Fun Stories :: This story might be the pinnacle of my pregnancy career when it comes to “Fun[ny] Stories.” 😝 Just warning you.

So we had tribe night on Wednesday (3.28.18) and after a delicious homemade Mexican dinner, we played a couple games of Catchphrase. Well, my sister-in-law is super competitive and I was on her team. It was the last round and the word she was trying to get us to say was “FIN.” She pretty much locked eyes with me and said, “Star Wars. Best friends with Rey.” I knew who she was talking about, but my mind instantly went to actor, which I had absolutely no clue what his name was. With her competitive spirit and the timer speeding up, my two-seconds of silence was detrimental to our chances of winning and she said, “OH MY GOSH! A dolphin’s arm!!!!” which was accompanied with a hand motion. I’ll be honest and say you probably had to be there to find so much humor in this, but I got the word “fin” out of my mouth right before I (& pretty much everyone playing) erupted into uncontrollable laughter while she threw the game to the next person. I could not stop laughing and suddenly felt a gush of water flood out of me. So much in fact it that it soaked my underwear, pants, and the couch cushion I was sitting on. “Oh my gosh, I may have laughed so hard I broke my water!” which only made the tribe laugh even harder. Soaking wet, I ran to change, but suddenly I realized that really could have been my water breaking. I called the doctor and they recommended I come in. Since Rylie was in bed and we didn’t want to wake her, Rick & Michelle camped out in our living room and Aaron and I headed to the hospital. We arrived around 10:30pm and they ran a test on me and kept me for another hour to monitor me. At 12:30pm, the doctor came in and he started explaining what had happened using all kinds of medical words. When he got to a stopping point, I kindly said, “I have no clue what any of that means…” followed with a giggle. He then started using “normal words” and basically said I had just laughed so hard I peed myself and my water had not broken. He gave me the option to stay the night if I wanted and they’d keep an eye on me or I could go home, but I opted to go home so I could get a good night’s sleep. The nurse then gave me a piece of paper that explained what it would feel and look like when my water did decide to break, and then I signed some discharge paperwork and we headed home – which we didn’t get into bed until 2am.

So the moral of the story, boys and girls, is I laughed so hard I peed myself and went to the hospital because I thought my water had broken. **insert a thousand crying emoji faces** hahahahaha 😃 if that isn’t one of the funniest things I’ve ever done in my life, I don’t know what is.
