We’ve begun a new unit at Nature Day Forest School and we’re diving into GARDENING. We’ve focused on planning your garden and seeds. This week we learned about bees.
We started in our usual way – with a lesson taught by story books (Bee Dance and The Honeybee Man). In between we played charades to replicate how bees dance to communicate with each other.
Snack was a fun mix of grapes + pineapple (black & white stripes), honeycomb marshmallow treat and waffles.
The sensory bin + wooden toys always had students playing with it. A mix of dry beans, puff-balls and mini bees made for long-lasting, imaginative play I loved seeing them make “bee soup” and all kinds of other concoctions.
As a special gift, each student got a honeycomb and a honey stick.
