Our Winter Semester of Forest School is wrapping up and so far we have talked about Weather, Winter Animals, Hibernation, Trees and this week – Shelter.
We chatted briefly about what a shelter is, why you might need one, etc. But I really only had one plan on the docket this week – let the kids make a shelter. Before class, Aaron and I put together the frame and grabbed some sticks / logs for the kids to get started but then we encouraged them to go foraging in the forest to find materials. They loved it.
There was a simple snack available and the kids did eventually decide to play and socialize, but it was so fun to have such a special activity this week.
