“How old is your son?” -stranger
“11 months old.” -me
“Oh my! He’s not even one yet!?” -stranger
*pretty much every conversation I have with everybody hahahaha
Likes: (the exact same list as last month)
- chatting
- crawling on all fours (and man is he fast!)
- playing with trains
- being with his people
- being held
- food
- food
- food (hahaha)
- being outside
Dislikes:
- being hungry
- getting his diaper changed (not always fussing, just always moving. He rarely stays still)
- being set down when he wants to be held
Food:
We’ve begun to wean off breastmilk so we’re upping his table food. We’ve made several jokes that he’s storing up because he takes ginormous bites if possible.
We just switched to nursing in the morning and in the evening (dropping day feedings) but, like I said, that’s very new. I was hit with mastitis and it dropped my supply drastically and it’s just time.
Sleep:
7-8pm is bedtime which he willingly lies down for. He naps once in the morning around 9am and at 12pm.
He is my thumb-sucker… but only when he is tired. And he still loves having his puppy-lovies in his bed with him.
Life:
Spencer is everywhere and into everything! Joker is pulling up, pulling out, unpacking, dumping, touching all the things! He keeps busy.
He was very helpful during our Egg My Yard adoption fundraiser prep.
We go to the library every Tuesday and he’s really getting into it. He loves being set at the shelf with all the board books and he enjoys listening to the story for a while. At home we read regularly and he’s always very interested.
If you ask me what size clothes he’s in, I say 12-18 months but really it’s more like 18-2T. 12 months are just too snug and I like the styles of the t-shirts for 2Ts.
Spencer’s guy gang started having their one-year birthday parties so within a week Spencer celebrated both of his friends turning one. I’m happy to say we have finally settled on a theme and I have mixed emotions about him turning one next month.
Our wooden trains are still his favorite and he was drawn to them at the science center the other day.
His vocabulary is growing, he can say:
- mama
- dada
- papa
- baba
- de du (I think it’s “thank you”)
Spencer hasn’t needed or really wanted his pacifier in months, but when he’s teething, he likes to have it close.
Me:
He is very good at saying “ma-ma-ma-ma.” and no matter how many “ma”s there are, I know he’s talking about me 🙂
He’s almost one, and his personality is shining through. He is so fun (exhausting, but fun) and makes me chuckle every day. He’s so sweet, loving, adventurous and funny.

[…] It was just like I had remembered it – extremely painful and debilitating. The last time Spencer was turning 11 months and I felt comfortable beginning to wean him. I did three little snack sessions a day (morning, […]
