7 months. And on Christmas too. Goodness.
Likes:
- blowing raspberries with his lips / spitting
- interacting with people
- eating baby food
- his crib
- playing
- reaching for everything
- sitting up on his own
Dislikes:
- laying down when he could be sitting up to play
- having things he wants to chew on get taken away (because they’re dangerous)
Food:
Spencer LOVES baby food. We started with just giving it to him at dinnertime but now he gets it 3 times a day and it’s obvious when we skip (due to activities or whatever). He wakes up, nurses, plays for a little, eats baby food, plays a little more and then takes a nap.
His nursing sessions are very short and sometimes he gets frustrated like he’s still hungry. I think my supply might be dropping but I’m honestly not sure. I’ve heated up a bottle for him a few times when I know he’s still hungry, but I’m still committed to keeping my milk as strong as I can.
Sleep:
He LOVES his crib. We went to Illinois for Aaron’s grandmother’s funeral and that pack’n’play was not his friend. He ended up sleeping in the full-size bed by himself because the pack’n’play just wouldn’t do.
He starts getting ready for bed (fussy, rubbing eyes, yawning, sucking his thumb, etc.) around 6:40pm and he’s usually in bed between 7 and 7:30pm. He wakes up between 6-8am and afternoon nap is usually around 12pm. sometimes he wants an evening nap (which is around 4-5pm) and other times he pushes through until bedtime… it really depends.
Life:
Spencer did great on his first 10/hour car ride on our trip to Illinois. He seriously was the best & he got all the gold stars. He slept, played quietly and I was very in tune to when I knew he’d need to eat, which he appreciated. The only time he really lost it was the last 20 minutes of the trip, and I don’t blame him on that one.
He loved watching Christmas lights and playing with our Kid’s Nativity set.
Rylie loves carrying him around, and even though it gives me some anxiety, she really does an incredible job and Spencer doesn’t seem to mind. He loves cuddling with Rylie and playing with his sisters.
Paisley is BIG on making sure nothing, absolutely nothing goes into his mouth… even if it’s okay – she freaks out and says “NO LER LER!!!!! NO!!!!!”
He had his first experience in the shopping cart the other day and he did pretty well. He got tipsy easily so I held onto his outfit but he enjoyed the new seat.
Me:
I’ve become really convicted lately to take more pictures and videos of him. He’s growing so quickly and I feel like I’m going to regret not capturing more of him on film.
He makes me smile and I’m extra thankful for him these days. Christmas this year felt a little different though… I think it’s having a son or something. I remember how impactful it was for me Rylie’s first Christmas (she was 1 month old) – I saw Mary and the birth story of Jesus completely differently. I feel like I caught a new, fresh glimpse this year too as I clung to my son.
