That moment you realize your baby is 9 months old and you’ve started to lightly plan her 1st birthday party 😃☹❤

Food:
We’re steadily at 7-8oz bottles every 3ish hours. We’re working on baby food (she likes some more than others) and eating things off our plates.
Bonus though – she insists (literally) on holding her own bottle and does not like to let go even once all of the formula is gone hahaha she likes to chew on the nipple and just hold on to it for a bit. If you try to take it away from her, she holds on very strongly and goes “ahhhhHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!” hahaha
Sleep:
2 naps a day is pretty standard for Emmaline. A mid-late morning nap + an afternoon nap. We put her down between 7 and 7:30pm and she wakes up anywhere from 6:30-8am (it really depends and I’m not sure why…)
Life:
We thought she would be crawling by Christmas but she honestly might not see a need to get on all fours and crawl. She scoots and army crawls to where she wants to go and she is already working on pulling up on things. Who knows, she could embark on walking before really mastering crawling which would be another predictably unpredictable thing she does 😛
Her 2 top teeth cut over the week of Christmas, creating an extra snuggly and occasionally fussy baby for a 2-week span but she loved playing on the floor with Rylie or by herself. We can evidently see 1 tooth and the 2nd one just popped through a couple days ago. This allows for a stronger grip when she grabs things and I have found myself yelping when she unexpectedly bites my leg 😛
Rylie and Emmaline love each other in a way I couldn’t have even dreamed of. Checking on Emmaline, asking Emmaline to play with her, copying what Sister does (including fussing unfortunately. But “you’re a leader Rylie, not a follower.” is a common statement Aaron and I say to her) and giving lots of head pats, hugs and kisses are a daily occurrence in our house.
Me:
I realized this past weekend that Emmaline’s 1st birthday is coming up at a rapid speed which means light planning has commenced and it’s giving me all the feels. I realize we’re still 3 months out, but still…
To be honest, this last month was a whirlwind and passed quickly. Other then a Sunday when the girls’ nap schedule was abnormal and Rylie was down for quiet time and it was just me and Emmaline – playing, reading books and wrapping gifts (or playing with the wrapping in some cases 😉 ).
I wish I had more intentional one-on-one moments, which reminds me to always, always create them!
Emmaline is all kinds of happy these days and I love it. It brings so much joy to my heart and I love cheering her on as she passes big milestones. And I’m not upset about the clingy baby cuddles either 😉 They’re too fleeting.
