catch up time

Between choosing to live in the newborn fog and my blogging crisis (haha), there is a lot of photos, stories and thoughts that have gone unshared. So prepare yourself because today I’m sitting alone with all 3 children resting and a cup of tea (that is still hot) next to me. 😛 Here we go.

The Girls & I

For starters, these behind-the-scenes from Paisley’s newborn photos are too sweet, and I loved how the proud big sisters are taking pictures too.

Emmaline has transistioned from youngest to middle child fairly smoothly all considering. We have struggled with some challenges of course due to age + life circumstances, but I’ve been working on intentionally having at least one moment with her every day that is solely focused on her. Whether that’s reading a book in my lap, coloring together, carrying her around the house or taking silly pictures together.

Rylie’s obsession with Toy Story only grew when she saw Toy Story 4. We even made our own Forky. And yes, she slept with him like Bonnie did in the movie 😛

I got mastitis (a very painful breast infection) 3 times within 8 weeks. I got antibiotics twice and only briefly considered throwing in the nursing towel haha. It was miserable when I had it.

Nursing is hard. It’s relentless but beautiful. It can strip you and fill you at the same time. It’s heavy and freeing. Boundless but binding. But oh so worth it. Which is why I’ll keep doing this for as long as I can.

Rylie took my phone and somehow captured this gem. Usually it’s a selfie of her nose, eyes, forehead and ceiling haha

But I love the candidness of the moment, and the fact that my toddler took it makes it all the more special.

Emmaline is at the age where “gentle hands” is said a lot. And with a newborn around, I feel like I said it constantly. But one day I was folding laundry on the bed and the girls joined me. Snuggled under a towel, I looked over and caught Emmaline loving on Baby Paisley- giving back her paci and rubbing her head.

Reading has been bringing a lot of peace to me lately. It helps me slow down + stretches my mind. My latest read (that I finished on Thanksgiving) was Risen Motherhood. It’s based on a Podcast I listen to and enjoy where two moms talk about everyday motherhood moments and the gospel. The podcast and the book have been very encouraging to my mother heart.

One gorgeous afternoon, I took the girls out to walk around my in-law’s property. I gave each of them a gallon plastic bag to put pine-cones, acorns, leaves, whatever caught their attention into. Rylie absolutely loved this adventure! Emmaline enjoyed walking around in her cool shades and Paisley snuggled close while she breathed the fresh autumn air.

Paisley has been growing beautifully and I pretty much take at least one picture every day. Lately she has been smiling more often and staying awake longer in between naps.

Aaron Got a New Job

Right before Paisley was born, Aaron got a job offer from a company called Carvana. If you are unfamiliar with them, think Amazon but for cars. It paid a lot more than Jimmy John’s, had a better schedule and had multiple other perks that caught our interest. He accepted the offer and was scheduled for training in Arizona a couple weeks later.

It was a long week for the Shaver Crew! I was juggling 3 under 3 alone (Paisley was only 2 weeks old) and got my first round of mastitis while he was gone.

He came home for the weekend and then left again for a 3 day training in Atlanta.

But we survived (with a joyful attitude I might add) and Aaron has been working there for a couple months now. The best part is he absolutely loves what he does. It has been a huge blessing to our family in multiple ways and we are excited to see where this job takes him.

Of course I have a lot more photos I could share, but I think I’m going to reserve them for another post 😛 Thanks for catching up with me guys! I hope you have a wonderful day.
